Make no mistake about it. Every time a politician, be they Left, Right, or Red or Blue, or Pink, or Purple, whatever, everyone of them; every time they say something, know that they are lying to you. It may be a lie of omission, or a lie of fabrication. Either way, it's a LIE! They all call it by different names; spin, slant, agenda, expedient, deniable, and any and all conjunctions and subjugation's of those root words. The stated goal of all politicians is "Public Service". Lie! The real goal is power. Maybe it's a deep seated need to be part of the inner circle, to be one of the people that actually knows the "TRUTH" about what's going on. Since knowledge is power, back to motive one. They get their flunkies to attack anyone that dis-agrees with them, and can argue effectively against their power grab du' jour(See 'Sarah Palin', 2008)
Here in Southern Oregon, there are currently two issues on the political hotplate. The first is a liquified natural gas(LNG) pipeline that is planned to run 200+ miles, from the coast, near Coos Bay, to the south central Oregon/California/Nevada border area. It would provide a low cost solution to supplying this area with cost efficient LNG. There is no existing infrastructure of highways to substitute for this pipeline, the existing MOUNTAINS sort of prohibit that option. The current Democratic Senators and Representatives are opposed to the pipeline, the Sierra Club is opposed to it because of it "environmental impact". The Republican Representatives are in favor of it, because it will make for "Affordable" access to LNG for the residents of the area. Both sides are full of $*it. The Democrats are opposed to it because it makes Comrade Obama's Cap and Trade agenda, tougher to pass, because Cap and Tax will cause household utility costs to "necessarily skyrocket"(Barak Obama, 2008), making it harder to institute their wealth re-distribution plans. The Sierra Club is opposed because they really want to remain relevant in the modern world, and to bitch about something reminds them that they are still worthwhile. The Republicans are in favor of it, because the utility that is building the thing, is paying them to be in favor of it. Finally, the utility is simply trying to expand their customer base. The truth is that the utility will need to cut a path through the forest, to allow for the "Footprint" of the pipeline, and a gravel "Service Road", to allow the utilities inspectors to maintain the pipeline. That's it, no more, no less. No more dangerous than having a steel LNG tank in your back yard, and most rural residents are already familiar with that. If you live in a major metropolitan area, and have never lived in the country, you have no idea what it means, and frankly, aren't qualified to have an opinion on the subject, either, so, SHUT UP. You urban types tend to put your two cents worth in, whether it's been asked for or not. I know that you, and the politicians tend to think of us rural types as inbred rubes who aren't smart enough to know what's good for us, so you'll take care of us, but really. First of all, your only concern is that a pipeline might spoil your view as you travel through the forest(Selfish reason, by the way). Please stop trying to take care of us, you idiots have no idea what we need, or don't need. Do not for one minute think that your supposed "Superior Education" is a substitute for being smart. It isn't. Most of you are educated WAY beyond your intelligence.
The second issue on the block regards the flow, or rather the control of the flow, of the water through the Klamath Basin. Oregon has experienced record rainfall this season. The lakes a full and rivers and canals are flowing at capacity. However, according to the "Experts", the use of water by farmers in the basin must be monitored closely, to ensure that they do not use too much water during this drought period. What F*%(ing DROUGHT? The flow must be monitored to ensure that the people downstream and out of state, who have payed these "Experts" great sums of money, get their water, and the farmers who live where the water is, can go pound sand. It's all about power. If you live where the water is, and use what you have, then the government cannot control you, unless you let them put in monitoring stations, like the farmers in the basin did. How'd that work out for you guys? Three years ago, the Government shut off the farmers access to the water that was flowing across their own land. Do not believe a word these people tell you. For that matter, do not automatically believe ME. Go look it up for yourselves, and make up your own minds about what to do about it. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy, get away from letting others tell you what happened, ar why something is important to do. If it is that important, then finding information about it should be a piece of cake. Investigate the subject, thoroughly, and then decide how much control over your life, you're willing to give over to the people that work for you.
Well, it seems that I have bitched long enough. Talk to you all again soon, till then, BYE.
